It turns on fine, but once I hit the starter it just clicks. Have checked all the usual things. I have had the bike over a year and am afraid to ride it. Shortly afterward, I started smelling gas and the leaking from the carb only got worse. I pulled the tank jsut to look, but backed off the carb.

To quiet down the final drive I changed to synthetic gear oil (Valvoline 75-115), it makes one big difference. A quick check is to remove the cable from the hub and spin with your fingers while looking for movement on the speedo needle. If it moves, your problem is in the hub.
