It could be 1979, the four digit date code started in the seventies. Usually all the seventies carbs have slotted bowl screws, not the hex that's seen on later Holley's. It is a service carb for the 67 Corvette but correct in every way. New member. I have a 1968 800 with a 345. The Holley carb is a 2 barrel 500 cfm 4412-5 with a date code of 2644. I am trying to get a rebuild kit for it. None of the local parts stores have a listing for it. One of them said it was a 2300 and sold me that kit. The metering plate gasket is wrong and the power valve is totally different.The carb build date codes were the same as the previous two years used on the #3447 carb ears and tags. I have seen carbs with the DZ letters with date codes into the 70's. They are over the counter replacement carbs. It might still have some worth but not near as much as a correct dated carb.

This is my guess, I think it is an aftermarket replacement for the original carb. The reason is the date code. You are correct about the date, with respect that it ends in 2.
