Step 2: Locate the throttle linkage. Before you can make any adjustments, you will need to locate the throttle valve adjustment location and the throttle linkage. Pop the hood and look for the intake piping. Follow the piping to the intake itself. You will find a series of linkages and cables mounted on the intake.
Start by making sure lifter is on low step of camshaft- valve completely closed. Tighten nut on rocker arm while spinning pushrods with 2 fingers. When pushrods stops spinning while tightening rocker arm nut go ahead and tighten down another 1/2 to 3/4 turns. Vale is adjusted. Continue on and do all the valves this way.Unfortunately, I don't have cam specs, as I bought my car turnkey and the seller didn't have the cam card. I'm just curious what a "typical" range should be for valve lash on a big block Chevy. (Iron block, aluminum heads). I checked, and the lash was .036 COLD, which according to my math is about .042 hot. That seems loose no matter what to me.Now make the final adjustment. Measure and adjust the clearence when the rocker arm pad is on the bottom of the cam. Check the clearances of numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5 valves by inserting the blade or blades of a feeler gauge between the rocker and valve stem.
