To get a good crimp, you need a compact powder, and Tightwad works well. It makes a nice soft 1150 fps shotshell. My only gripe is that it is very prone to static electricity.Titewad powder. Titewad is a great powder for your purposes. It is dense and you will likely need a taller wad in many loadings. It's a good fit in the smallish capacity WWAAHS hulls. Now changing the powder from the bulkier Extra Lite to the much denser Titewad, that will move the stack height down in both hulls.

The probable reason for your blackened hulls is soot caused by lower pressures. Look for powders that are faster burning than 700X that will give you higher pressures with the lighter shot charges. As mentioned, Extra Lite is a good choice. Other powders to look at include Titewad and Nitro 100. mg1polo and ganger.

When I began comparing 3/4 oz 12Ga versus 3/4 oz 20GA, I found that the patterns were slightly better coming out of the smaller 20GA hull, so I just stuck with that. If you're set on running 3/4 oz in the 12GA I'd recommend using Alliant ExtraLite.Assuming you're using a MEC press, just get a 3/4 oz. charge bar for it, pick a 7/8 oz. recipe for the AA hull and a bushing that when weighed drops one or two grains less than the powder charge listed in the recipe. According to one burn rate list, Titewad is the fastest shotshell powder available and should work very well with 3/4 oz. loads.

I have a boat load of this powder from when I was shooting sporting clays, and would like to work up some plinking loads for my glock 19. Hodgdon has load data for this powder using a berry's 124 gr hollow base bullet.

Thats always a good call. You need the TGT12 wad with titegroup .15.5gr should get you there I don’t use bushings but #15 should be close I load 16.0 and get 1145fps.
