I'm a hospital based podiatrist. There are a lot of opportunities for podiatrists at hospitals. I've been an attending for about 8 months so I can't tell you if the ACA will have any affect on podiatrists' salaries. . You can bill initial nursing home evaluations (99304-99306) though you’ll want to check criteria for those because you may or may not to hit the requirements of even the lowest complexity visit. Though I would think you could get a 99304, so long as the PE requirements don’t involve too many systems.

Many of the first year class at Temple submitted DAT scores. NYCPM will beg you to come to their school if your DAT score is high. Also, the very top of our class has both DAT and MCAT students. No call, and pretty straight forward, easy job. You are the sucker that does all the nails , callus, wounds, and see the post ops while the other surgical pods rack up 275-300k doing surgery and hangout/ sit in the ortho table. Its only 4 years after college, complete autonomy, ability to be your own boss, and they make around 150-200K typically. MD/DOs have a much higher ceiling average-wise than Pods, Dentists, Optometrists, PharmD, but they are also working 50-60 hour workweeks for the 200-250K.

He is prolly salty because a premed in the low 490s MCAT and 3.0 GPA can still go to Podiatry school and be a doctor while he had a 3.5 GPA, had to retake the MCAT many times, maybe had to do a SMP, barely get into a low tier DO school and is doomed to a life of primary care and maybe anesthesia or EM if he gets super high board scores.
