Originally known as the Florence Area Humane Society (FAHS), Oregon Coast Humane Society was founded in 1992 when a group of concerned animal advocates met to see what they could do to help the companion animals of the area. The shelter was completed, and the first animals were moved from foster homes in August of 1996.
