That being said, melee is definitely stronger in WotR for various reasons, but full caster merged spellbook Lich is still strong enough to clear unfair difficulty. The game becomes a joke halfway through on core difficulty, so what you play doesn't matter too much. I soloed playful darkness with my sage sorcerer lich on core. In act 3.

The reason i loved it was because it was so specific to lich. Playing the lich as a pure caster (which i did twice, going down the high DC illusion mage route), felt like just a general "strong caster" build. This build was frightening (shaken) even demon lords swinigng a big axe around which sucked the lifeforce from its enemies.

1st Play through - Lich vs Demon. Sage sorcerer is honestly the worst sorcerer to use for Lich, Other sorcerer classes use CHA which will give insane HP in lategame, rendering some of the fights people get stuck one far easier. That conflict in tabletop would flat out prevent the character from doing anything that would involve them accepting burn to power their abilities. How the coding is working in WotR I won't even guess at. Kineticist is exceptionally powerful for Swarm. Once you get a clone everything dies so fast to their AoEs (devouring earth, etc).
Lich spellbook has some cool touch spells so it might be worth looking into Magus if you aren't concerned about spellbook merge. I'd still vouch for arcane sorcerer as abundant casting doesn't give you more lich spells in an unmerged book (Vampiric Blade is a really cool spell). ... Wotr table top witch help.
