Simply try the ideal starting procedure (<5 seconds crank), pull a spark plug and check for fuel. If the plug is wet then you have fuel but either no spark or no compression.

We had a cold snap right after XMas, subzero F for a couple nights, killed the battery in my pickup and caused a no start in the D, under voltage. Replaced the battery in the pickup, all good (bad cell). Wouldn't start, the engine just turned over, tried to start a couple of times, coughed spluttered then nothing, just turned over..... Check all fuses associated as best I could, no blown fuses, not sure if the relays were all functioning. I disconnected the negative terminals on the battery, left to reset and reconnected, still nothing.A few seconds pass and multiple warnings start and a message displays saying vehicle is shutting down, pull over and stop.
