also, the initial power rank of a gem dictates how powerful it will be. not all gems of the same rarity are as good. and you can't make them better just by upgrading. if you find a gem with a low PR (relative to its rarity), it will always be low. if you find a gem with high initial PR, it will be better.The Empowered Gem or Class ability always adds an extra 100 Power Rank, thus making Stellar Empowered and Class Gems cap at 700 at level 1 with 3 stats, or 300 at the lowest with 1 stat. Gems are the biggest source of PR and stats in the game and the introduction to gems is really bad in this game. Once you get to world level that drops gem boxes, each box will drops gems of 3 rarities. The rare drops will be the strongest, of course. As you level, equip these to improve your PR.
The Shadow Hunter's class gem is available at 5k power rank. To get the gem, you need a class gem key which is obtained through an empowered gem box. Then, go to the Uber 8 area and go into the Shores of the Everdark portal. As far as I’m aware, crystal gems don’t come from empowered gem boxes. You can either make a Crystal Empowered Gem Box (which are expensive af) or you can use a crystal gem converter.
