Although this is a World War I-type martial 1897 Trench Gun, it does not have military acceptance marks because the gun was made after the 1918 Armistice. Nevertheless it is a true USGI solid frame 1897 Trench Gun with a heat shield that has six rows of ventilation holes & a bead front sight mounted directly to it - not the barrel.
